Health sector opportunities in South-East Asia: experience from Vietnam – Inspirational talk at ScanBalt Forum track during LSB2018

Vietnam is a country with continuously high economic growth and very promising outlook. In addition to the industry, banking and real estate, health sector offers plenty of investment opportunities.

Stable political system, availability of qualified personnel and openness makes Vietnam exemplary country in the South-East Asia region. The current opportunities in health sector are related to the training of human resource, availability of health care services and capacity building.

Our team has almost 10-year experience in working with Vietnam to advance medical education and research capacities. We have executed several projects and helped to establish local activities. During my presentation I’ll give overview about our experiences and further challenges.

About Prof Sulev Kõks

Prof. Sulev Kõks of the Department of Pathophysiology has a strong research focus on pathophysiology, transcriptomics, genomics and biomarkers. His research is mainly related to the neurodegenerative, musculoskeletal and chronic inflammatory diseases.

Prof Kõks has around 200 publications, he has received two times National Research Award, he is member of several research societies (IBANGS, ASIP, APS, SFN, SRNT, SEBM).

He is the Estonian National Director of EATRIS and management committee member of the COST action Clinimark. Prof. Kõks has a very broad international collaboration (EU, USA, VN, Australia).
