Latvia further builds up research and innovation capacities in the field of Health

This Autumn two new EU FP7 projects from the “Research Potential” programme got started in Riga. Both will bring Latvia’s health research capacities to an eye level in the European Research Area. Focus areas are drug discovery and infectious diseases:

·         Unlocking infectious diseases research potential at Riga Stradiņš University (BALTINFECT)

·         Strengthening the research and innovative capacities of the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis, the leading Baltic regional centre for drug discovery (InnovaBalt)

With a budget of in total about 7,5 Mio € these projects will invest in human and material resources and exchange with well-established European research centers.

The Steinbeis Team Northeast is a strategic partner in the BALTINFECT project and will offer research management and IPR workshops to the projects. This will allow for a higher rate of participation in HORIZON 2020, additional collaborations in the Baltic Sea Region and new commercial pathways.
