New Member Feature: Tartu Biotechnology Park, Estonia

Tartu Biotechnology Park Ltd, established in December 2001, provides companies physical infrastructure as well as business development services. Through this TBP aims to enhance the development of the biotechnology sector by increasing the competitiveness of the biotechnology business.
The TBP has been a partner in several European projects in FP5 and FP6 and national projects as BIOSPINNO, which aims to enhance cooperation between academia and SMEs in the field of biotechnology and to develop environment for application of research results inside academic R&D institutions, BioMed Incubator and some R&D projects.
The TBP services can be divided into following categories:

• Infrastructure services – offices and production areas, laboratories, etc.
• Preparation and implementation of strategic development projects, project management services – preparation of a business plan, market and risk analysis, assistance in preparing and submitting projects, financial management, subcontracting, etc.
• Development services – services offered to start-up companies concern identification and development of the business idea of start-up companies together with analysis of potential implementation opportunities, assistance in finding the required initial investment required for starting the company or for additional analyses, recruitment of staff, training, finding cooperation partners.
• Services to foreign companies starting operations in Estonia – finding suitable premises, documentation and other formal issues, networking and information services, assistance in finding and mediation of business partners, etc.
In order to achieve its aims the TBP engages in active cooperation with Estonian and foreign biotechnology companies, R&D institutions, foundations for the development of entrepreneurship and biotechnology and other organisations, including national agencies and local authorities.
