Horizon 2020 – Draft description of next work programs (2018-2020) out
The European Commision will open the next work program series under Horizon 2020 in the autumn 2017. First draft descriptions give an overview of calls and topics. For the health (Societal challenge 1) and food biotech and bioeconomy (Societal challenge 2) section the following calls are expected with several subtopics:
SC1:
- Call 1. Better Health and care, economic growth and sustainable health systems
- Call 2. Digital transformation in Health and Care
- Call 3. Trusted digital solutions and Cybersecurity in Health and Care

HORIZON PRIZE – Low carbon hospital – € 1 million
The Horizon prize for Combined Heat and Power (CHP) installation in a hospital using 100% renewable energy sources will reward a hospital that has an innovative and perfectly integrated combined CHP installation within its premises.
The contest has been launched and you can apply until 3 April 2019.

SME Instrument
SMEs are invited to submit proposals under the SME instrument at any time within all Societal Challenges and Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technologies areas. In the field of Life Sciences the following topics are open:
- Dedicated support to biotechnology SMEs closing the gap from lab to market
- Supporting innovative SMEs in the healthcare biotechnology sector
- Accelerating market introduction of ICT solutions for Health, Well-Being and Ageing Well
- Stimulating the innovation potential of SMEs for sustainable and competitive agriculture, forestry, agri-food and bio-based sectors
- Supporting SMEs efforts for the development – deployment and market replication of innovative solutions for blue growth
Depending on which phase you are interested to apply for, the following next cut-off days exist:

EIT Health

EUREKA Eurostars
The Eurostars programme is a funding and support programme, aimed at R&D-performing SMEs that wish to exploit the benefits that come with international collaboration.
Research-performing SMEs can apply for funding under Eurostars. Other SMEs, research institutes, universities and large enterprises may also participate but the project leader must be an R&D-performing SME from a
Eurostars country.
Eurostars is open to all projects in all technology areas and market fields, but projects must have a civilian purpose.

SUPERBIO
SUPERBIO is a H2020 project that aims to develop innovative cross boarder value chains in the bio-economy. It engages with companies and other industrial stakeholders that want to build innovative cross-border value chains around their activities and that are interested in innovation services to bring the value chain closer to the market.
In short, the project provides coaching and advising, will validate ideas for new value chains submitted by companies, will help building new value chains and provide innovation support services to SMEs part of validated value chains that are essential elements for their business planning and to create further leverage.
Applications are welcome until end of 2018.
