Succesful Russian-Finnish Symposium “Academy and industry cooperation: from science to business”

On October19-20 , 2017 the IV Russian-Finnish Symposium  “Academy and industry cooperation: from science to business” was  held in St Petersburg. The main objective of Symposium was the exchange of experience and development of plans for joint Russian-Finnish research in the biomedical fields for the Project “Northern Growth Corridor”.

More than  200 persons attended the IV Symposium  including more than 30 participants from  Turku University and Abo Academy,Turku.

The program included presentations by  leading scientists of SPCPA, Turku University and Abo Academy, representatives of the Finnish and Russian pharmaceutical companies, poster presentations of young scientists and graduate students, discussions on actual issues of  implementations of joint biomedical research programs aimed on  developing new medicines for diabetes, including bioinformatic  resources.

In 2016 a joint research project of the SPCPA, University of Turku and Åbo Academy (Turku) and the University of Eastern Finland on development of new drugs was included into the Russian-Finnish Intergovernmental Action Program of cooperation in the framework of a bilateral “Declaration on Partnership for Modernization”.
