University Medical Center Groningen part of European super cluster on Healthy Ageing (InnoLife)
The ScanBalt Healthy Ageing Liaison Office in the Northern Netherlands is proud to announce that InnoLife, a consortium of more than 140 European research institutes, companies and universities is selected by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) as a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC). InnoLife is worldwide one of the biggest public-private financed initiatives in the field of health (a total budget of 2.1 billion Euro).
The InnoLife consortium is a kind of “super cluster” consisting out of 6 co-locations in Europe. In total more than 142 organisations participate in InnoLife. The projects focus on topics like big data, health literacy, healthy ageing at work ageing brain, oncology and the improvement of the health system.
The Northern Netherlands focus on Healthy Ageing perfectly matches the future activities of InnoLife. In the coming year the partners will develop innovative products, education programs and services facing the challenge of an ageing society in Europe.
The activities of the EIT Health will start in 2016. Since the involvement of SMEs will be an important feature in the InnoLife projects, the Healthy Ageing Network Northern Netherlands and the Healthy Ageing Campus will be heavily involved from the start onwards by developing local and European public private partnerships in healthy ageing.
