4 Post Doc. Positions in Molecular Biology, Poznan, Poland.

4 Postdoc. positions are open in molecular biology, funded by the European 6th Framework Programme: “Transfer of Knowledge”, which offer an excellent, and well rewarded, opportunity to be involved in the set up and initiation of genomics research at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Adam Mickiewicz University, in Poznan, Poland.

The positions are working in the project ‘Introduction of Modern Functional Genomics Methods’ whose main objective of this project is to introduce the latest functional genomics methods to the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology to conduct research at the highest international level.

Note!: These positions have varying deadlines for application.

Microarray Analysis (2 positions):
An experienced researcher is needed that knows how to perform microarray analysis and computational analysis of microaaray data. He/she has to provide expertise and advice on designing and interpreting the microarray-based experiments and he/she will come to help us with the implementation of the bioinformatic tools for transcriptome analysis. In particular the researcher will carry out microarray analysis of transcripts profile in Arabidposis thaliana plants under drought stress connected to abscisic acid (ABA) signalling pathway.

Contract Type: Temporary (1 year)
Position: Experienced Researcher (4-10 years of experience)
Salary: 47000 Euro a year, a contract
Start Date: 2006-05-30
Closing Date for Applications: 2006-07-01

Cell Culture Researcher (1 position):
Experienced researcher in protein interactions, in protein complexes analysis and cell culture techniques is neede to assist during the esteblishment of a new cell culture laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and to supervise the implementation of yeast two-hybrid system, TAP=TAG technique and to make computational analysis. He/she will be involved in preparation of stable cell lines that will be used to purify complexes containing MAARP and p86 proteins. The components of these complexes will be prepared to Mass Spectroscopy and computational analysis. It will let to know which additional proteins interact with MAARP and p86 and to know whether these two proteins are involved in other, Myc-independent processes

DNA Sequencing and Data Analysis (1 position):
Experienced researcher in mass-scale DNA sequenceing and computational analysis of data is needed. He/She will help us to organise the lerge-scale DNa sequencing laboratory. Large-scale DNA sequencing project is to acquire sequence information for cDNA clones of Brassica oleracea var. Alboglabra (or other variations, can be optional) plants exposed to oxidative and drought stress. The project includes the development of cDNA libraries(source material will include mRNA from leaves) from stress-induced plants and partial sequenceing of of approximately 6000 clones. These sequences will be analysed for possible function by similarity to known genes represented in the public databases. Biological sciences, Biology; Computer science Database management
