ScanBalt welcomes Aalto University as a new member.
Aalto has six schools with around 12 000 students and 4000 employees of which close to 400 are professors. The campuses are located in Espoo and Helsinki, Finland. With 37% of the academic faculty coming from outside Finland, Aalto is a highly international community with strong academic standing.
The health and wellbeing research mostly focuses on neuroscience and -technology, functional magnetic imaging, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics and computational medicine, as well as on health and wellbeing technologies and management.
A large share of research in this area is done in close collaboration with the University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital. Their expertise in medical science and clinical research complements Aalto University’s primarily technology-oriented approach.
The Aalto Health Platform brings together researchers and external parties for multidisciplinary collaboration in the area of health and wellbeing.
The platform’s role is to support Aalto’s H&W research activities, facilitate technology transfer towards innovations and startups and the broader high technology industries, and further develop the societal impact of Aalto’s work.
