BioCon Valley (Germany) Supports Young Scientists Research

From Monday, April 18th until Sunday May 1st, 2005, 16 Latvian and 14 German trainees from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will analyze the quality and the composition of Baltic Sea water from the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern within the EU training program „Sokrates“. The goal of this exchange program is for the young trainees to collect first experiences in international project work. Project coordination and realization was taken on by BioCon Valley GmbH.

Within this twelve-month project, these future biological laboratory assistants from companies in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the vocational school Zierow, as well as the future environmental protection technicians from „Olaines Mehanikas un tehnologijas koledza“ in Latvia will visit their partner country for 2 weeks. Their task will be to collect and analyze water samples from the Baltic Sea. At the same time the trainees will learn about research methods and technical equipment of the partner country. The results will be evaluated in English, which will enhance their expertise and language skills. At the end of the project research results will be summarized in a multilingual work report.
