Biotech and Pharma private research investments boost European R&D investment. R&D, Expenditure: Private research investment in EU set to accelerate
European companies expect to boost their R&D investment by some 5% per year over the next three years, according to a new survey by the Commission’s Joint Research Centre. The biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemicals sectors account for most of that growth.
The EU Survey on R&D Investment Business Trends are a positive development. Around 450 companies in ten sectors, together accounting for some €30 billion of research investment, took part in the survey. Together, they expected their R&D investment to grow by an average of 5% over the next three years.
