The startup community in Tartu has grown enormously. And no wonder, Tartu is written into sTARTUp itself! We see new ideas given a go each and every day. But only a handful make it further than the first annual report. It is well known statistic that only one out of ten startups make it happen. That is why the first international business festival sTARTUp Day 2016 will be held on December 9 in Tartu, Estonia. The main theme of the festival is “How to earn if there is nothing to burn?”
sTARTUp Day is a festival where old fish and newbies, traditional entrepreneurs and startupers, government and media will loudly and proudly discuss the importance of well thought-through business models. Is it ok to rely on and burn investors’ money not thinking on earning it back before the money runs out? We believe that more startups would succeed if this traditional belief is disproved.
The burning question will be answered in sessions covering topics like biotechnology, virtual reality, creative industry, outsourced R&D, entrepreneurial teaching, sports industry and even space technology. See the full programe and the list of speakers at www.startupday.ee.
In biotechnology, the discussion is moderated by Andrus Tasa, CEO at Tartu Biotechnology Park and head of supervisory board at Competence Centre on Health Technology. He will be joined by a strong lineup of international expertise in the field:
- Eskil Söderlind, Founder of Salinator Bioscience,
- Olaf Gerber, managing director of Bayer Baltic,
- Erki Mölder, chairman of supervisory board at Enterprise Estonia.
sTARTUp Day 2016 is a business festival where all the biggest community parties will joyfully come together to end their year in fashion. Ideas and pitches will be presented, prizes will be given and champagne will be poured. Come and take part in sTARTUp Day! Tickets (with and without accommodation) are available from www.startupday.ee and Piletilevi salespoints in Estonia. Soon to come in Bilesu Serviss (Latvia) and BilietuPasaulis (Lithuania).
