Joint Finnish – Swedish Research on Regional Cooperation
How Finns and Swedes communicate in mixed-language workplaces, and the economic impact of their bilateral migration patterns of the past 50 years were among the many subjects explored during a three-year joint research programme. Highlighting minority-language challenges in this corner of Europe, the ‘Interaction across the Gulf of Bothnia’ programme is a prime example of the kind of cross-border research co-operation at regional level that the European Commission encourages via its European Research Area.
