Research plays a key role in raising European competitiveness at the world’s level. It is essential that all European Member States participate in this process. Together with other new Member States, Lithuania strives to contribute to joint efforts in
strengthening the European Research Area.
On 1st May 2004, the European Union welcomed Lithuania as a new Member State. This historical occasion is also a great challenge and opportunity for Lithuanian scientists.
Who are Lithuanian researchers today? Is their academic work useful for Lithuania’s and Europe’s progress and their society? Biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, new energy sources, laser technologies – potentials existing in Lithuanian universities, institutes and laboratories.
