University of Oslo, Norway

The Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden – together with the Nordic Council of Ministers, have the great pleasure of hosting the Nordic Bologna Process Official Seminar ‘Looking out! Bologna in a global setting’.

This is the third, and final, seminar in order to propose a strategy on the external dimension of the Bologna Process. The strategy is to be decided by the Bologna Ministers in London 17 May 2007.

250 delegates from universities, university colleges, central authorities as well as organisations, will participate in the Nordic seminar. Approx. 50 delegates from outside Europe, representing all continents, are expected.

The Nordic seminar concentrate on six different, but not mutual exclusive parallel sessions. As the Nordic seminar is the final one, it is time for conclusions and recommendations to the Bologna Follow Up Group on what should be the content of a strategy document on the external dimension of the Bologna Process.

The parallel sessions

1. Conditions for institutional cooperation between European and non-European higher education institutions
2. International mobility – transparency – recognition
3.  Recognition of different study programme structures
4.  Complementarity and international cooperation at the regional, national and institutional levels c
5. Attractiveness/competitiveness – brain drain – capacity building
6. What makes the European Higher Education Area attractive?
