New Foundation to Support Women Scientists, Germany
Nobel Prizewinner and Director of the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tübingen, Professor Dr. Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard, has established a foundation for the support of women in science and research.
It is the goal of the newly formed foundation to support highly qualified young women with children in their pursuit of a scientific career. The foundation will, in particular, support graduate students working on a doctoral thesis by contributing financial support for childcare and home help. As a result, the young mothers will gain more time and flexibility for scientific work. It is the goal of the foundation that, in future, a larger number of highly-qualified women will be able to contribute to top research in Germany.
