Nordic and Baltic Companies Urged to Collaborate
Nordic and Baltic countries must collaborate in research and innovation, Per Unckel, the secretary general of the Nordic Council, has told a conference in Riga, Latvia. “Competition is becoming increasingly fierce and it is coming from new places,” Unckel told the conference, arranged by NORFA, the Nordic Academy for Advanced Study. “That increases the need for quality. Research costs are also rising. Europe is losing ground to the USA, even though the EU’s Lisbon targets from 2000 are to make the EU the most competitive region.”
