 Zooming in on the smaller Nordic regions new figures also show that they are doing well in the new economy in which more weight is placed on knowledge.

The small Nordic countries hold their own successfully with regard to focus on research. This emerges from a new report from Nordregio, ‘Geographies of Knowledge Production in Europe’ by Tomas Hanell and Jörg Neubauer. On a national level there is a significantly higher proportion of the population employed in science and technology in the Nordic countries with the exception of Iceland.
