North European Life Science Summit in Schwerin
Co-operation partnering for pharmaceutical development at international level
Under the auspices of the North European biotechnology-initiative ScanBalt the Life Science networks Medicon Valley Academy Kopenhagen/Lund, NORGENTA Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein and BioCon Valley Mecklenburg-Vorpommern invite to the workshop „Innovative Medicines – Collaboration in Northern Europe“,Thursday, 22nd February 2007, 04:00 p.m. at the “Ritterstuben” (Ritterstraße 3, Ministry of Finance) in Schwerin.
It is objective of the event, to inform about the central European“Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI)” for competitive pharmaceutical development as well as the special devoted funding in the frame of EU-FP7 and to mobilize partners for a co-operation. The event is devoted to interested scientists from academia and industry.
The overall objective of IMI is to remove bottlenecks hampering the efficiency of the development of new medicines, and where research is the key, thereby enabling the European biopharmeceutical industry to become world leaders. At the same time, by pooling resources from all stakeholders (industry, academia, SMEs, regulatory authorities, healthcare providers, patient organisations), this initiative is expected to provide faster access to better medicines for European citizens. The proposed EC contribution to the IMI JTI will be 1 billion € for the period of FP7 (2007-2013).
Speakers are Prof. Dr. Arnd Hoeveler, EC Research Directorate General, Head of Biotechnology Unit, Brussels, Dr. Erich Greiner, Evotec AG Hamburg, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Norbert Stoll and Prof. Dr. Arndt Rolfs, CELISCA Centre for Life Science Automation, University Rostock, as well as Stina Gestrelius, Deputy Managing Director Medicon Valley Academy, Copenhagen/Lund.
Following, the speakers as well as the teams of BioCon Valley, Medicon Valley and NORGENTA will be at disposal for individual discussions during the refreshment.
