The Northern Netherlands at the Baltic Sea

The Northern Netherlands at the Baltic Sea

From the 8th – 10th of October the Northern Netherlands as part of the old Hanseatic league again demonstrates the strong connections and bonds to the Baltic Sea Region hosting the annual ScanBalt Forum.

Following the recognition of HANNN as an EU reference region for Active and Healthy Ageing, this year’s congress will be focused on the scientific and bio-economic aspects of the demographic change that  takes place in Northern Europe.

We invite you to participate together with companies, researchers, scientists, and politicians from the Nordic and Baltic countries, Poland, Northern Germany, Northwestern Russia and the Northern Netherlands to search for cooperation possibilities.

Compose your own congress-program out of the scientific program, the business development program or the Healthy Ageing Campus matchmaking event. The following issues will be discussed:

· How can we guarantee an affordable high quality of life of ageing people that live in the long coastal area between the Northern Netherlands, the Ems-Dollard Region (EDR), North Germany, the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) and Russia?

· How will a limited number of young people be able to care and cure the elderly?

· What kind of facilities are needed to keep  elderly self-supporting?

· What kind of innovative products will be needed in the future and how can we develop them within a rather short period of time?

All the necessary conditions for strong economic growth exist in the Baltic Sea region and Northern Netherlands: stable democracies, institutional structures advantageous to business, large wealthy markets close at hand, world class infrastructure, excellent educational opportunities, strong industrial traditions, good positive work ethic, and a common history of trade and cooperation.

Last but not least the Northern Netherlands and the Baltic Sea region are dealing with the same challenge: an elderly population, growing cities and low populated rural regions.

Do not miss out on your opportunity to make long-lasting valuable connections with partners abroad.
