Tackling the health innovation and research divide in the Danube and the Baltic Sea Region.

The European Commission seeks inputs for the future shaping of the health related research and innovation activities and their financing with special attention to macro regions.

The DanuBalt project (www.danubalt.eu) aims to identify novel approaches in tackling the health innovation and research divide in the Danube and the Baltic Sea Region.

A tool is to bring together relevant stakeholders from all levels (EU, macro and regional) in order to discuss a gap analysis on health innovation enablers.

DanuBalt will by their expert feedback obtain validated results, that would be more relevant and credible and thus enabling the creation of more focused and reality-based roadmaps.

These roadmaps will then provide a sound basis for a number of pilot projects.

As part of the process a stakeholder forum was held in Budapest, Hungary on 1 July 2015.

The workshop was held with the participation of more than 20 stakeholders from the Hungarian Health research and innovation sector (mainly medical universities and companies, funding authorities, and Health NCP).’

Likewise a stakeholder forum was presviously held in Bucharest, Romania on 24 June 2015. The workshop was held with the participation of more than 20 stakeholders from the Romanian Health research and innovation sector.

Finally a stakeholder forum took place 17th of June in Jūrmala as a back-to-back meeting with the 6th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.

A key delivery of DanuBalt is a prioritized investment catalogue to be implemented in future projects.
