Testing EU biotechnology strategy, an invitation to give your opinion

Four years ago, the European Commission launched its ‘Life sciences and biotechnology – a strategy for Europe’ action plan. Now, at the half-way point of the eight-year strategy, the initiative is up for review.

Stakeholder consultation
This consultation invites the public to present its assessment of the implementation and the way forward of the 30 actions included in the 2002 Life Sciences and Biotechnology Strategy Action Plan.

The Commission intends to evaluate the merits and possible shortcoming of the Strategy and draw conclusions on the best ways to maximise the contribution of modern biotechnology to the major European policy goals formulated in the renewed Lisbon Agenda, or “Partnership for Growth and Jobs”, and the Sustainable Development Strategy

Comments should reach the Commission’s services no later than 30 September 2006
