Turku Life Science Accelerator – a runway to a next level of commercial maturity and success

Turku Life Science Accelerator is the first Finnish accelerator with a life science focus. The accelerator is a national initiative to access the untapped innovation potential within university research and young companies and to create new successful businesses. Its focus is on drug development, diagnostics and related technology and business areas, including e.g. smart health data and service concepts within professional health.

In operation since 2016, the program received over 50 applications, out of which 30 were accepted. At entry, 70% of them were research projects. During the program 8 new companies were established and 5 companies raised in total 2,5M€ in capital. The successor of the Life Science Accelerator will be established in autumn 2019, with focus on the Professional Healthcare segment.
