Turku: ScanBalt Forum to discuss the Estonian EU Presidency 2nd half of 2017

Finland is a global hotspot for biotechnology based innovation according to the 2016 Scientific American Worldview (read more). And ScanBalt Forum Oct 19 to 20 in Turku is a hotspot for discussing the Estonian EU Presidency and its focus on digital healthcare and personalized medicine.

Annika Saarikko, Member of Parliament in Finland, opens the 2016 ScanBalt Forum and states “We are happy and proud that Finland is a leading place for innovation and biotechnology. And we fully support the Estonian EU Presidency agenda as it is important both for us and for the entire EU. Therefore it is very fitting that ScanBalt Forum in Turku will discuss digital health developments with representatives of the Estonian presidency”.

The discussion will take place as a work group session with Ain Aaviksoo, Deputy Secretary General for E-services & Innovation, Ministry of Social Affairs, Estonia. Ain Aaviksoo says “Joint efforts and active coordination of digital health developments in the Baltic Sea region are important.  Free movement of data should be regarded as the „fifth freedom“of EU and respecting patient rights related to health data portability”.
