From Regulation to Implementation – The Future of Secondary Use in Europe’s Regions 25 Years of ScanBalt – Anniversary Symposium
Time: 09:00–17:30
Venue: Rostock, Germany
Format: On-site only
Organised by: BioCon Valley® GmbH, ScanBalt, DIG-in-HEALTH, NDGR e.V. (Network of German Health Regions e.V.)
About the event
The European Health Data Space (EHDS) sets the legal and technical framework for the cross-border use of health data in Europe. While primary use supports care and treatment, secondary use enables health data to be reused for research, innovation, public health, policy-making, and regulation under clear governance conditions.
This symposium will explore how regions, organisations, and patients can become co-creators in EHDS implementation, with a special focus on readiness for secondary use and on rare disease and nursing care use cases.
Why attend?
- Understand the EHDS framework and the timeline toward full application in 2029.
- Explore how patients can be meaningfully involved in the secondary use of health data.
- Exchange regional strategies for EHDS readiness and cross-border collaboration.
- Discuss how data pooling can accelerate rare disease research and improve treatment pathways.
- Learn about the role of nursing data and regional data ecosystems for future research and innovation.
- Join the launch of a new working group on patient-driven EHDS use cases.
