Guide for training and study in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, published by Biocon Valley®

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, is an innovation-friendly and a future oriented state. With the demographic change and the increasing demand for professionals in the region, the healthcare industry and the life sciences sector face major challenges. BioCon Valley® as partner of the project „MellonPlus – Gesundheit goes Diversity”, concentrates on people with migration background and foreigners in Mecklenburg–Vorpommern, to sustain the healthcare industry and so counteract the shortage of personnel. For that purpose, BioCon Valley® has published a guide for training and study in the fields of health economy and Life Science in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The guide published in English and German language is divided into two brochures:

The first brochure focuses on health services and training courses that are offered in the state. The second brochure focuses on the scientific and technical careers and training courses. Each of which includes an address and location directory of schools, colleges and training providers. With the help of these brochures, candidates should be encouraged, to apply for an apprenticeship or study in these areas. The download version of the brochures can be downloaded from the website www.mellon-plus.bcv.org.

In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern there are around 1.6 million inhabitants, 4% of which have migration background (Source: Statistical Office 2010). Their professional integration in modern society is a fundamental guarantee for economic and social inclusion. The reduction of discrimination in access to training, with the inclusion of employment and participation in the promotion training in enterprises is therefore an important goal. People learn to respect and gain financial security. And a company benefits: they can access professional candidates that were previously not thought of as personnel. So they can counteract the shortage early.

The MelloPlus project provides a variety of measures and tools, such as business-related coaching, to introduce or improve diversity management, or the provision of education and training opportunities in the healthcare industry for people with immigration background. Strategic partners of the project are employment agencies and job centers, companies and organizations in the health industry and health insurance companies, universities, colleges and training institutions. The project is part of the federal program “Xenos – Integration and Diversity” and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the European Social Fund (ESF).
