“Information for Patients: The EU policy options”, background report available.

Friends of Europe is pleased to present Information to Patients: The EU’s Policy Options, published in association with Pfizer.

The report is an analysis of the current Europe-wide debate on information for patients and  consumers on prescription medicines and treatment options. It presents the main challenges faced by the EU in providing better healthcare information to patients and explores the possible ways forward.

The report is in two parts: first, a background report, that reflects in-depth interviews with representatives of EU institutions, Member States, patients’ organisations, industry and academia in July and August 2006; and, second, the proceedings of the Café Crossfire Debate: EU Policymakers’ Options on Patient Information, organized by Friends of Europe in association with Pfizer on 20 September 2006, where the priorities and obstacles outlined in the background report were debated.
