Turku Science Park launches two new biotech research centresTwo new biotechnology research centres are set up in Turku to improve the operating prerequisites of medical science, drug development and pharmaceutical research, as well as international competitiveness.
The Turku Center for Disease Modelling in the University of Turku will serve the early stages of biomedical basic research, and pharmaceutical and biomaterials research, as well as facilitating the utilisation of innovations.
The Turku Clinical Research Centre, jointly run by the University of Turku and the Hospital District of Southwest Finland, will enhance, among other things, the patient research related to new drug and other therapies, which are subject to increasingly strict qualitative and operational requirements. The centres will be an essential part of the national network of pharmaceutical actors.
